CLOUD. Henrik Pätzke soloutställning i Glasgow, Skottland

Henrik har fått den stora äran att göra en större separatutställning på Project Ability. Den heter Cloud och innehåller flera textila installationer samt ljudverk som ramar in det hela.

Cloud – A solo exhibition by Henrik Pätzke

In his first solo exhibition in the UK, Henrik Pätzke will create an expansive installation in Project Ability’s gallery and deliver a talk event about his practice on Saturday 5 April 1-2pm.

Henrik Pätzke is an artist based at Inuti, a small foundation that runs daily art activities for people with learning disabilities, with working studios and a gallery situated in Stockholm supported by artistic, pedagogic and psychological professionals. Henrik Pätzke has been working with Inuti since 1998 and is now a full-time member of Inuti 2, established in 2003 as a satellite studio to support artistically talented individuals with high-functioning autism, Asperger syndrome. Inuti and Project Ability have a history of working together on various exhibitions and events and share the objective of art as a communicative tool to guide and help each individual to develop a personal style and proficiency as a means to free artistic expression beyond the confines of art therapy.

Pätzke is an artist most well-known for his tent installations and large fabric costume works that are designed and stitched together by the artist, often floated and suspended in the air displaying a closed quality and sculptural effect. This mode of working strikes associations to set up camp as an ephemeral action; tents of various descriptions are considered to be amongst the oldest human dwellings and also represent impermanence as nomadic objects. The artist also makes experimental forms that he refers to as clouds. With paint, fabric, wire and electrical components, their resolutely physical surfaces belie the drifting and transient nature of clouds in the sky. These amorphous forms and their deliberate lack of clarity create a tension between formalist exploration and metaphor in sculptural practice.

The exhibition will explore various ideas around constructed spaces and of autistic withdrawal behind emotional, defensive, architectural gestures with the tent and cloud acting as motifs for both transience and indications of human presence.
